CHAO MAE LIM KO NIAO FAIR


February 26 - March 7, 2007 Around Leng Chu Kiang Shrine, Amphoe Muang, Pattani

Among the Chinese and families of Chinese descent, the Goddess Chao Mae Lim Ko Niao is a highly revered. During the Chao Mae Lim Ko Niao Fair, a procession is held 15 days after the Chinese New Year in honour of the deity.
EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
  • A statue of the goddess, the principal Buddha image and statues of other gods are carried on a palanquin in a procession that is accompanied by lion dances.
  • A procession of flags accompanied by music
  • Displays of spiritual strength by walking on hot coals
  • Assorted entertainment including Chinese opera, the Manohra dance, movies, performances by students
